Project Ski 1500plus

Skiing Every Significant Mountain In Lower Austria

Lower Austria, located around Vienna, is one of the nine provinces (or ‘Länder’ in local lingo) of Austria. It is the province where I was born and where I had been living before moving to Vienna. Despite its name, Lower Austria does have quite a lot of mountains. These mountains culminate in the Klosterwappen (2076m) of the Schneeberg massif, which happens to be the easternmost 2000er of the Alps.

Recently, I was thinking about skiing all significant mountain of Lower Austria. For this project I define a ’significant mountain’ to be of an evelation of 1500m or higher. Hence, I call this little project 1500plus. I am still researching the maps but so far my list of 1500ers in Lower Austria consists of the following mountains:

  • Klosterwappen/Schneeberg (2076m)
